Timpanogos High School has named alum Paul Hutton as its new boys lacrosse head coach.
Hutton, 24, is a Timpanogos class of 2000 graduate, but he played his high school lacrosse for Orem because Timpanogos didn't have a team at the time, he said. Hutton is presently a student at Brigham Young University, where he played two seasons on the men's club team as a defenseman in 2003 and 2004.
An Orem native, Hutton was an assistant coach on last season's Timpanogos team. Hutton replaces Karl Arnold, who led the team to an 11-4 record and a spot in the Division B state-title game. Logan downed Timpanogos 17-9 to win the Division B crown last season.
This will be Hutton's first varsity head coaching job.
"I'm really excited to coach," Hutton said. "I've got a great group of guys that are awesome. The guys I'm close to are hard working, and hopefully they'll motivate others to work hard too."
He asked me a bunch of other questions. I think that is the toughest part about being a head coach...Divulging information about your team without being too informative. I'll try to come up with some crazy stuff during the season.
